Connect your phone number to the AI receptionist
Give the AI receptionist its own local number or forward the one customers already call. Steps to pick a number, set up forwarding and test it.

To connect your phone number, pick a local number for the AI receptionist, then either share that number or forward your existing business line to it. Most businesses forward, so customers keep calling the number they already know. Nothing changes on your line until you turn forwarding on.
What this does
The AI receptionist answers calls on a number of its own. Forwarding sends calls from your business line to that number, where the receptionist picks up, answers questions and books into your live calendar. You choose when to start, and you can turn forwarding off at any time.
Choose the receptionist's number
- Open Settings, then Phone.
- Search for a local number by area code.
- Pick the number you want and activate it.
- Confirm the dashboard shows the receptionist as answering on that number.
Keep your existing number
You have two choices for the line your customers already call:
- Forward all calls. Every call goes straight to the receptionist.
- Forward unanswered calls. Your phone rings first, and the receptionist picks up the calls your team misses.
Forwarding is switched on with your phone carrier, and the steps differ for mobile lines, landlines and VoIP systems. The call forwarding guide explains each one. Enter all ten digits of the receptionist's number when your carrier asks for the destination.
If you would rather move your number to Lumoras completely, ask your onboarding contact about porting it. Keep forwarding in place until the move is finished, so no calls are dropped in between.
Check that it worked
- Call your business number from a phone that is not on your account.
- The receptionist should greet the caller with your business name.
- Ask a simple question, such as your opening time, then hang up.
- Open Calls in the dashboard. The test call should be listed with a transcript.
Troubleshooting
- Your shop phone still rings and nobody answers. You may have set forwarding for unanswered calls with a long ring time. Ask your carrier to shorten it, or forward all calls instead.
- The call drops or plays a carrier message. Check you entered the full ten-digit number with no extra digits.
- Forwarding codes do not work. Some business lines manage forwarding in an online portal. Your carrier can switch it on for you.
- The greeting uses the wrong name. Update your business name in Settings, then call again.
