How does a multi-stylist salon track commission and route bookings?
Every appointment belongs to a named staff member, each person can have their own commission rate, and bookings go to whoever can do the service and has worked the least. How to set it up.
- Sonorch
- Lumoras POS
- Lumoras Voice
Every appointment belongs to a named staff member, each staff member can have their own commission percentage, and a booking goes to whoever can perform the service and has worked the least recently. Commission is switched on per business: on for salons, and the default staff share is 60%.
Commission
Commission is a per-business switch, and we turn it on for you — it is on for salons, nail salons, hair salons, barbershops and spas, and it is never available to restaurants, which do not pay this way. With it off, every split counts zero for staff and no screen, report or email shows one.
- The default staff share is 60% of what that person sells.
- Any staff member can have their own percentage, anywhere from 0 to 100, which overrides the default for them alone.
- Tips are recorded against the staff member on each sale, and feed the commission and tip splits used for payroll.
If you need commission switched on or off, ask us — it is deliberately not a setting a staff member can flip.
Which services each person does
In Settings, open staff and assign the services each person performs.
The rule is one sentence: a staff member with nothing assigned can perform everything, and one with anything assigned can perform exactly those services. So "Ada does colour only" is expressed by assigning Ada's services, never by removing everyone else's — and a salon that has not touched this screen keeps every calendar exactly as it was.
Who gets the booking
For salons and the other beauty verticals, availability offers the least-loaded staff member first: a fair rotation rather than always filling the same chair.
- "Least loaded" means the minutes already booked inside a fairness window, which is 7 days by default and anything from 1 to 90 days under Settings → Bookings.
- A customer who asks for a particular person is booked with that person, if they can perform the service and have the time.
- Every appointment carries the staff member, the service, the time and a short reference, and moves through booked, completed, cancelled or no-show.
What happens on a phone booking
The AI receptionist books into the same calendar, under the same rules — it can only offer a time a capable staff member is actually free, and it follows the same fair rotation. A caller who asks for a named stylist is checked against that person's own availability. The appointment gets a short reference the agent can read aloud.
Check that it worked
- A sale rung up under one stylist shows that stylist's share, not the default, once you have given them their own rate.
- Assigning one service to one person leaves everybody else's availability unchanged.
- Two bookings made back to back for the same service land with different staff, if both are free.
Troubleshooting
- No commission appears anywhere. The switch is off for this business. Ask us to turn it on.
- A stylist is never offered. They may have services assigned that exclude this one, or no hours on that day.
- The same person gets everything. Check the fairness window under Settings → Bookings; a window of 1 day forgets last week entirely.
- Commission cannot be enabled. Restaurants cannot use it at all.
